Burlesque

This post is dedicated to the BFF Celeste--She has been dying to go to a pole dancing class and after seeing the preview for the movie "Burlesque" I came up with the perfect Girls night/day out! Begin the event by inviting 10 of your closest friends with a fab invitation (by mail of course) I am thinking something black and white with red accents...sexy right?

Invite the girls over for signature cocktails and some light snacks...definitely cupcakes! Here is a signature drink that I came up with:

Naughty Girl
1oz Ciroc
2 oz Simply Raspberry Lemonade (strained)
Maraschino Cherries (soaked in light rum)

mix the first two ingredients and pour into a martini glass and drop in one cherry! This drink is sure to make the evening fun and full of laughs!

Now as for the cupcakes...these would go fab at the Burlesque event!

I won't give away all my goodies but I would recommend going to a noon screening, back to the house for cocktails and then on to the pole dancing class!

This idea can also be adapted into a bachelorette party too!

-Enjoy

Red, Wine, and Blue

The above story board is from the great Martha Stewart!

Okay, next year Avery will be one around this time of year and I will be back to hosting events at Case de la Ausmer! So I just had a good idea to throw a fab, adult, fourth of July party! Red, Wine, and Blue! This could be a wine tasting with BBQ. I think it would be cool to do local vineyards only...celebrating freedom and America!

Fourth of July parties are about having fun so enjoy yours this year...I sure will!

Cocktails and Cookies

I am a firm believer that you can never have too many gatherings and since I was pregnant for an eternity I have missed out on a few sessions. I am thinking about throwing a party at the end of the summer for women only and calling it cocktails and cookies! Cute...right!?!? I will ask each guest to bring at least one dozen of cookies or some other dessert preferably homemade and I will supply the cocktails and food! This would be a fun way for the ladies to get together and try different cookies or others desserts and take some home too. I will ask each guest to send me a copy of their recipe (if it is not top secret) so that I can print them on cute stationary for each guest to take home.

I have not thought of the design elements yet but as soon as I do I will post them. I want to make it a really swanky event!

Follow the Sexy Brick Road

Okay one of my friends needs to get married ASAP! I have a ton of great ideas for a bachelorette party that I can not share because it would ruin the surprise but here is one that I was thinking about recently...A sexy spin on the Wizard of Oz!

Follow the Sexy Brick Road

The bride-to-be could wear a pair of beautiful pair of blinging ruby red slippers with a white ensemble and her whole entourage can rock black outfits.

I found a wonderful recipe for ruby slipper cocktails
1 1/2oz of Whiskey
Grenidine
7up

Fill a shot glass three-quarters full with whiskey, and with grenadine. Fill any large glass with 7-up. Drop the shot glass into the 7-up and drink everything.

Also I have this vision in my head of beautiful cupcakes covered in red glitter I could not find the perfect picture but the above will have to do!

The possibilities are endless with this theme. If you need some help just let me know! As always have fun!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 oz of Patron Silver
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 oz Fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Agave nectar
  • 1/2 Fresh squeezed lime juice
Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake gently serve in salted glasses and enjoy!

Decorations

Decorations should be fun and festive! How awesome would it be to fill a pinata with adult goodies and take turns slapping it around (after a couple of margaritas).
Food
The good thing about Mexican food is many dishes go a long way. They are meant to feed a lot people. So dust off your favorite taco salad recipe, buy a big bag of tortilla chips and viola! Furthermore, one of my favorite party appetizers is a cheese ball.  Here is a great easy recipe for a jalapeno one! YUM

Christening Soiree

So a good friend of mine asked me for a few ideas to help her plan a Christening Party for her baby girl. To be honest I was stumped for a few minutes because I have never been too any such event--but I immediately fell in love with the idea. I am in the midst of working on a few things for her but I wanted to show you a few pictures of what I have found.

Wouldn't this be a fantastic favor to give your guest along with a white pocket bible wrapped in pink ribbon!?! I am going to make her some standard laminate bookmarks but if funds were unlimited these would be fantastic!

Cross cookies for dessert! Love it! You can personalize theses with the babies name or leave them blank. Either way they would be a big hit!

Check back soon for more details!!!

Happy Birthday Party

Ok so I am planning a birthday party for a little girl...it is next February! Please don't judge me! lol Here are the three themes I came up with:

  • Aries Tea Party
    • The little girls would design their own hats and have wonderful desserts and learn etiquette
  •  Made: I want to be a ballerina
    • Each little girl will receive a custom made tutu with her initials on it and someone will come in and teach them a few ballet moves.
  •  Diva's Day Spa
    • Mani's and Pedi's and facials oh my! All little girl approved of course.

What do you think blog world? I need feedback! Oh she will be 6yrs old...

Host/Hostess Gift

Well I never really give host/hostess gifts since I am the person who normally throws the parties! But on the rare occasion someone else has a shindig, I stick with the traditional bottle of wine...boring, I know! But I was searching online and found the cutest host/hostess diy gifts on at home with kimvallee and I will definitely be adding it to my bag of tricks.
They seem easy...please let me know if you make them. I think they would make great holiday gifts for co-workers, teachers and anyone else who you just want to give a little something too.

Weekend Wedding

My husband went to a wedding this weekend and took photos for me since I could not be in attendance. He is such a sweetie! I love when people jazz up the idea of their guest book. Kudo's Steve and Lorainne for such a great idea!

Each person filled out a card and put it in an envelope, that will keep their precious words forever!

My Wedding 8-2-08

My wedding is when I fell in love with the details of planning.
Theme: The Greatest Love Song
The girls wore strapless champagne tea length dresses with a chocolate sash.

Ivory roses with pink tips
We did open seating and instead of a traditional guest book we did a guest box!
We followed the traditional African American tradition and jumped the broom. However, as an added twist we asked guest to sign a ribbon and tie it around our broom to give us their blessing.
We wanted to provide Kleenex for our guest in a creative way...they were a big hit!
If I could do it all over again...I would! I have found so many wonderful ideas butI since I can't do it again I hope to inspire you! Showers, birthday parties and weddings...Oh My!
